Will you ship your beer to my distributor, bar, grocery store etc.?
At the present time we are unable to ship our fine products. If you are in Centre County, Pennsylvania or any of the surrounding counties, contact us to locate a distributor near you.
Where can I find Otto’s beer?
We are proud to be on tap at many fine establishments in the State College area who care enough about you to serve the very best.
Do you offer brewery tours?
We are happy to give tours and show you around! We do not have regularly scheduled tours, so it is best to call ahead and make arrangements. It may not always be possible but we will do our best to accommodate you! If you stop by, just ask your server or speak to a manager, or just Contact Us! Usually one of our helpful and knowledgeable brewery staff is on hand and would be happy to personally guide you through the magic world of beer making.
Do you sell take-out beer?
Heck yes! Whether for yourself or a party with friends, our beer is easy to take home. We offer:
- Singles, 22 oz bottle
- Cases, 12 – 22oz bottles
- Growlers, 1/2 gallon (64 oz)
- Kegs, 5 gallon also called sixtles because they’re 1/6 of a barrel
- Half-barrels (15.5 gallons)
- 12oz six packs
All of our kegs feature American Sankey (ball) taps for your convenience. If you don’t have a tap, we will happily lend you one for a small deposit. Otto’s beer is also available at several local bottle shops and restaurants.
What the heck is a “firkin”???
A firkin is a British-style cask of ale. The ale is conditioned in the cask and gravity-poured for a “real ale” taste this is truly unique.
Prior to filtering our ales, we sanitize and prepare the cask. Unfiltered ale is added to the cask along with additional nutrients for the live yeast. Typically, hops are added to the firkin to enhance aroma and flavor. This process is called “dry hopping”. After filling, the firkin is stored at room temperature for several days. This conditions the beer, allowing the yeast to naturally carbonate it. Following the conditioning period, the firkin is stored at cooler cellar temperatures until we are ready to serve it.
At 5:00 every Friday, a tap is hand-driven into the firkin with a mallet. A small hole is opened at the top, and the beer flows! Don’t miss out on this taste treat—it’s real ale as it was meant to be.
What do you do with customers credit cards that are left behind?
Starting October 1, 2015, there will be a shift in liability from Credit Card companies to the Merchant accepting the credit cards. Because of this change, we will be changing our policy on “left credit cards.”
If you leave your credit card at Otto’s Pub & Brewery and/or Barrel 21 Distillery & Dining, we will secure your credit card for 48 hours. If not picked up in 48 hours, your credit card will be shredded. Picking up your credit card can only be done by the card holder along with a photo I.D. in order for our managers to release the credit card. Credit cards cannot be mailed but must be picked up by the card holder, only.
Do you offer a smoking section in the restaurant or bar?
Our customers spoke and we listened so no, we don’t. Otto’s has been smoke-free since June 1, 2007.
